I agree, they're mostly good people but are brainwashed into doing some bitchy things. I was guilty too of my share of bitching.

You've pierced to the heart of the matter, Wizard. Keeping the people poor and ignorant also keeps them hooked on a future paradise. If their lives are good now, they won't need paradise.

Some judged me for going/having gone to university. Some judged me for being 'too smart.' Some judged my non jw brother for being in the army. Some judged me for being a single young woman and not using my circumstances to pioneer. Sisters judged my clothes. I was judged for using big words. This is just some of the stuff I know about.
What crazy stuff did they judge you for?

How Many Had Chronic fatigue syndrome?
by OnTheWayOut inchronic fatigue syndrome refers to severe, continued tiredness that is not relieved by rest and is not directly caused by other medical conditions.. did you have many congregation members, particularly pioneers, that said they had " chronic fatigue syndrome" ?.
that's their "get-out-of-jail-free card.
" they were free to cancel anything at anytime and it was their legitimate reason for not doing anything that didn't involve field recruiting.

I've had it. I'm still recovering from it. It's incredibly debilitating because it really just lays you up. I'd have to lie down after a basic light chore like washing the dishes or sweeping the floor. I spent ages going to doctors and specialists as and had every blood test under the sun.
Nothing physical turned up in any test. It was unbelievably frustrating to be constantly tired and sore with no apparent explanation. Finally a cause was found and this is what the experts said, that it was 15 years in the cult that frazzled my mind, which weakened my body.
Now I've been out for over a year but the damage is done. I'm recovering though, but not as fast as I like. Cfs sucks.

Oh and also that we are stupid, dependent children who can't do or think a single thing for ourselves so a we need Jehovah that is, the org. to lead us. Attacking our confidence in ourselves that we can ever do anything.

I bet that new version of the old proclaimers book won't have any milestones such as 1925, 1975, the building of Beth sarim, joining the UN or anything like that. As for the rest of the information, while I couldn't stomach to read too much, it just seemed like the same stuff that they've been preaching forever about don't do this or that, complete with logical errors.

WT 2014 - 08 - 15 ..... but congregations are not required to do this.

The biggest question I have is how they justify marginalizing all those Jws in poor countries where there is no electricity or computers. I've seen some of these villages and there is no way these people or their congregations are having computers or internet. They are a day's walk from anywhere with electricity let alone able to show house holders a website on an iPad!!! It's like they don't care if these people can participate or not. How must these people sitting in their generator lit kingdom think? They must feel they are being left out.

Dressing down for the Cult Cart work
by cantleave ini have just read on another post that those brothers and sisters manning the cult carts are meant to be fully suited and booted, i have seen the brothers wearing jumpers instead of jackets.

Hell no, people dress according to what's acceptable in your area.
